David Fricke was born in Maine, raised in Tennessee, and educated in Boston. He attended the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University as a photography major, then spent a season teaching photography at an orphan’s school in rural Uganda.
After several years working as a carpenter/ cabinetmaker and assisting glassblowers, he returned to school to Massachusetts College of Art and Design where he graduated with honors from the Sculpture department.
His work often focuses on a combination of materials. Between his personal work and the commissioned work for other artists, he has gained extensive experience in woodworking, steel fabrication, glass work, and iron, bronze, and aluminum casting.
He currently works and takes commissions from his shop in Cookeville, TN.
